2nd evening will become ‘Purple Noon’ at ESG
This Thursday, 2nd March at 6.30 pm, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the French thriller, Purple Noon (1975) directed by René Clément. The film is loosely based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Starring the heartthrob Alain Delon as Tom Ripley, this film directed by René Clément was the first adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel. The Hollywood adaptation, The Talented Mr. Ripley with Matt Damon came in 1999, although there is a considerable difference between the two films.
Delon, in his first major role, plays Ripley, a young man devoid of any morals, who will not stop at anything to achieve what he wants. He takes things a bit too far with his friend Philippe and his fiance Marge, leading to a crime.
