Former AP CM Kiran Kumar Reddy resigns from the Congress party
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who was the last Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, resigned from the Congress party on Sunday.
In a letter addressed to the party president, he wrote, “Please accept this letter as my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress.”
Reddy had earlier resigned from Congress in 2014 after the UPA government’s decision to bifurcate the state and carve out a separate Telangana. He floated his own political outfit, Jai Samaikyandhra Party, and contested in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Failing to see any electoral returns in the next four years, Reddy re-joined Congress in 2018.
